I discovered the benefits of physical therapy after sustaining an injury of my own while playing sports back in high school. Physical therapy allowed me to overcome my injury without invasive surgery. My interest in and appreciation for physical therapy was taken to another level when I was in a car accident my senior year of high school. A close friend of mine was seriously hurt, and I was able to witness his transformation from incapacitation, and make a complete recovery, thanks to the efforts of his physical therapist. This experience inspired me to attain my bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology, as well as my master’s degree in physical therapy at Southwest Texas State University, and paramount in becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy through Texas Tech University. I am now a board-certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists—the highest accreditation a manual therapist can achieve. When not helping patients get better, I enjoy free time with my wife Kristi, my daughter Isabella, and my son Koen. I also enjoy running, hiking, and camping in and around the Texas Hill Country.

I have always had a passion for athletics. This passion eventually led me to play college baseball for the Texas Longhorns, culminating in being a member of the 1983 National Championship team. My enthusiasm for playing baseball caused me to sustain a serious shoulder injury, which would change the trajectory of my life. After college I sought a career that allowed me to inspire and help others. After the first few moments in an orthopedic clinic, I knew instantly that physical therapy was meant for me. In 1985, I finished my degrees in Kinesiology and Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin. I continued my education, receiving post-professional orthopedic training from the Manual Therapy Institute and am a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Therapists. I consider it a blessing and a privilege to be a manual physical therapist, and I am curious to see what kind of effect my personal journey might have on others. When I am not treating patients, I like to spend my time with my wife Maricela, and sons Jake and Matthew. I also enjoy cycling, weight training, drumming, and off-roading in my ultra-modded Jeep.

Physical Therapist

I was introduced to physical therapy in the world of pediatrics and volunteering with children with unique needs. It was amazing to see the impact someone could make not only on the patient but on their family as well. From there I moved into the military health care system and saw again the benefits of what physical therapists do keeping soldiers ready for whatever mission they need to accomplish, whether that is at home or overseas. From there, I followed my own interest of the human movement system and its relationship to weightlifting and bodybuilding, specifically how to stay injury free and how the human body works and becomes stronger.

Physical Therapist

I was always a kinetic/active kid. I grew up to love yoga, hiking, and outdoor sports. I was working with kids across the neurotypical spectrum in these outdoor settings. I thought I wanted to go into pediatric PT. I mostly work with adults in the outpatient setting, mostly with orthopedic cases, and I find this to be a great fit. I also have about 9 years of experience as a licensed massage therapist specializing in pain management massage. I’m currently working towards my board certification AAOMPT fellowship in orthopedic manual therapy. I am also in training for Somatic Experiencing certification to provide more trauma-informed care.

Scope of Practice:
Physical Therapy, Dry Needling, Massage Therapy
